The Los Altos Police Department is reporting an increase in burglaries of vacant homes. The latest plans have been announced for the redevelopment of a Cardiff Bay site which has sat empty for years after an ambitious regeneration stalled for years before collapsing. A South Bay family recently saw the insurance premium on one of their homes double, even though the property is not in a high-fire area.
