Our city is under attack by a new radicalism, and it’s not the free-loving kind of the past. It’s a well-funded and dangerous “my way or the highway” rhetoric that slams any attempt at smart neighborhood planning as “anti-housing.”
Last summer, Board of Supervisors President Aaron Peskin partnered with the mayor to upzone the entire northeastern waterfront through joint Downtown Adaptive Reuse legislation. The legislation was carefully crafted in partnership with the Planning Department and the City Attorney’s Office to spur appropriate housing and mixed-use development downtown.
